SINGER 66, Lotus, 1909
Serial #: V1.804.130
Condition: Working
A large model with oscillating shuttle and tension knob on the left side. Made in Kilbowie, Scotland. Dated in December 1909, according Santilla’s site.
Singer created for this model a new Ancient Egyptian Art design, with lotus or papyrus, after its success with the Sphinx design. Decals on the bed show two sacred beetles or “Scarabeus”, with the dung ball in their hind legs,(symbolising the Sun disc) and long vulture wings, forming a circle. Below, a winged scarabeus of the Tut-anth-camen pectoral. Other design had elliptical red shapes, and it is known as “Red Eye”.
A later example, Serial # Y 5821035, 1928 made, is in the collection. Here, bobbin winder is in higher position, and the faceplate is engraved.
