SINGER

"Improved Family", 1890

An original pattern of decals.
An absurd serial number

SINGER “Improved Family”, 1890

Serial #: 3.642.625

Condition: Working

Decals nearly worn off. It's of course a Singer, with its badge and its name on the arm, nearly faded. The point is that absurd serial number 3.642.625, without any letter. As it is well known, up to 1898, Singer's serial numbers had two figures. In 1899, one figure higher than 15.869.000. And later a letter before (M, P, N, etc.) Is anybody able to solve this mystery?

The fact of having a lower position bobbin winder suggests to be earlier than the model of the previous page. On the bed slide plate it is engraved: "Patented. Dec 11 1866. Oct 8 1878"
